How to Volunteer
Volunteer Opportunities
You may be interested in volunteering for Headquarters on a special project, as part of our Board of Directors, or as a volunteer counselor. If you would like to find out more about volunteering on a special project, please contact our Director of Volunteers. For more information about serving on our Board of Directors, please contact our Director or Assistant Director.
Becoming a Volunteer Counselor
In the words of one of our volunteer counselors, volunteering at HQCC is an "awesome experience."
- You get to join the staff of one of the oldest continually operating 24 hour counseling centers in the country!
- You will gain skills and insight that improve your personal life.
- You will learn from and form friendships with people within the staff whom you never would have met without volunteering.
- You can feel great about helping kids and adults who turn to us.
We hold two training programs each year . We always hope to have lots of people of varied backgrounds who really enjoy listening to other people. No previous training or experience is required!
- The process begins with an information meeting where you will learn about HQCC, the training process, and what it's like to volunteer here.
- If you liked what you heard, you can complete and turn in an application.
- After turning in your application you may be invited to an interview.
- Successful candidates will be invited to join our training program!
Informational Meetings for Spring 2011:
If you absolutely can't attend any of these meetings, please contact our Director of Volunteers. Informational meetings for our Spring 2011 training program will be held in January.
