How to Volunteer

HQ CounselorVolunteer Opportunities

You may be interested in volunteering for Headquarters on a special project, as part of our Board of Directors, or as a volunteer counselor. If you would like to find out more about volunteering on a special project, please contact our Director of Volunteers. For more information about serving on our Board of Directors, please contact our Director or Assistant Director.

Becoming a Volunteer Counselor

In the words of one of our volunteer counselors, volunteering at HQCC is an "awesome experience."

  • You get to join the staff of one of the oldest continually operating 24 hour counseling centers in the country!
  • You will gain skills and insight that improve your personal life.
  • You will learn from and form friendships with people within the staff whom you never would have met without volunteering.
  • You can feel great about helping kids and adults who turn to us.

We hold two training programs each year . We always hope to have lots of people of varied backgrounds who really enjoy listening to other people. No previous training or experience is required!

    1. The process begins with an information meeting where you will learn about HQCC, the training process, and what it's like to volunteer here.
    2. If you liked what you heard, you can complete and turn in an application.
    3. After turning in your application you may be invited to an interview.
    4. Successful candidates will be invited to join our training program!
